A film festival that focuses on content over style. Cheap Cuts promotes documentary storytelling whether its filmed on a 4k camera or a mobile phone. The energy and immediacy of filmmaking is captured through a visual language that is unpolished and unapologetic. Bold messaging, repeated type and grainy textures reflect the festivals DIY ethos. Typography is influenced by traditional newsprint headlines and VHS camcorders, whilst a brutalist colour palette grabs attention and puts the emphasis firmly back on the stories told.
